Internships

3/3/22 PAWS Wildlife Shelter

  • "Our Wildlife Rehabilitation Internships and Juvenile Songbird Rehabilitation Internships are wonderful opportunities for pre-vet students to gain diversity in their animal care experiences by working hands-on with the native species of Washington state. Our interns learn information about medications, how to communicate efficiently and effectively, the role of euthanasia in veterinary medicine, the process of examining patients, working in a non-profit environment, and much more. Many of our interns use their time at PAWS as a way to explore their future prospects and potential specialties as they go through vet school, and to determine whether or not working with wildlife is for them. Our internships are for 12 consecutive weeks, 40 hours a week (4 10-hour shifts). The schedules are set, so our interns always know when their days off are. These internships are also unpaid. Start dates for the Wildlife Rehabilitation Internship are flexible, while the Juvenile Songbird Rehabilitation Internship generally runs from the middle of May to the middle of August."
